Company history

Smoke curls have risen from Miller Pipes all around the world.

Created in Russia, China, the Dominican Republic and now in America the tradition of finely crafted pipes and cabinetry is now masterfully executed by George I. Miller.

Born in Shanghai, to parents, whose own parents had fled to China from Russia during the Bolshivik revolution. Though native, but not ethnic Chinese, the Millers were forced to flee Shanghai in the face of the Communist takeover. As native Chinese the Millers were barred from entrance into the United States and eventually were granted asylum by the Dominican Republic.

Surrounded by lush forests and an abundant wood supply, George was able to hone his skills at the crafts taught by his grandfather from the early age of seven. Combining the artistry with which he was gifted and the tutelage of skilled craftsmanship passed on by his grandfather, George’s creative genius blossomed.

Eventually the Miller’s qualified for entrance into the United States. The road had been a long one to the “land of milk and honey” for this family whose goal was to partake of the American dream. George by this point spoke four languages and embodied the spirit of devotion to America all immigrants felt for their new home land.

With an eye to demonstrating his gratitude to his adopted land George enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He returned to civilian life with numerous disabilities garnered in combat. George eventually reinvented himself in yet another life and returned to his childhood artistic dreams.
He took over where his Grandfather had left off doing wood carving and cabinet building.

His artistic skills with his hands are remarkable, he is now producing beautiful pipe cabinets and humidors but his main attraction is his pipes. He has produced many pipes that have been sold to friends and family and is now making his pipes and humidors available to the general public.

All of George's pipes are made from Briar (unless Stated Otherwise) and are hand carved. All humidors and pipe racks are from the best materials he can find
